# Know where your systems stand.

We map how your IT fits together, build custom software when nothing on the market does the job, and check your security against a recognized standard. Most clients start with whichever of the three matters most to them right now.

## Architecture

Know what connects to what.

We map your systems, data and vendors, so you know what connects to what and which systems should never reach your data. We cover Microsoft, Linux, AWS, Google Cloud and Azure.

## Software

Custom software, built to a written standard.

When your business needs software that nobody sells, we write the specification with you and then build it to industry-standard development frameworks. Every change is reviewed and tested before it goes live. Recent work includes MAG, Meritum, Clear Briefing and LaunchLint.

## Security

Security checked against a standard, with someone to call.

We review and harden your Microsoft 365 setup, assess your controls against ISO/IEC 27001, and look at the risks that vendors and new systems bring with them. When you need ongoing help, we can act as your fractional CISO on retainer.

## Signs you need us

Every organization is different, but the same few problems turn up again and again. These are the ones we see most often.

- [The person who set up your Microsoft 365 has left, and nobody is sure which settings are still open.](https://sigoct.com/security/)
- [Your data lives in five places, and nobody can say which copy is the right one.](https://sigoct.com/architecture/)
- [You're about to buy new software, and no one has asked how it will connect to what you already have.](https://sigoct.com/architecture/)
- [Your business needs a piece of software that nobody sells.](https://sigoct.com/software/)
- [A client has sent you a long security questionnaire, or a vendor now holds your customers' data, and you want answers that stand up.](https://sigoct.com/security/)

## How we work

1. **A conversation.** We speak business, not just technology, so we talk through your problem in a way you understand.
2. **A written review or map.** We look at what you have and put it in writing, so you can see clearly where things stand.
3. **An agreed plan.** We agree with you what gets done and in what order before any work begins.
4. **The build or the hardening.** We build the software or harden your systems, and we stay reachable afterwards when questions come up.

## What we don't do

Knowing where our work stops is part of doing it well.

- We don't run your day-to-day IT. We work alongside whoever does, in-house or outsourced.
- We don't take referral fees from vendors. If we supply software licences, they are listed on your quote.
- We don't give legal advice. Privacy law questions go to trusted specialists.
- We don't lock you in. The maps and specs we write for you are yours, and any software we build comes with the rights you need to keep using it.

## Who we work with

We work with organizations of up to 1,000 staff, in any sector, across Canada and the US. Most of the work happens remotely from Beaverlodge, Alberta, and we're glad to meet in Grande Prairie by arrangement.

## Where to start

If any of the situations above sounds familiar, write to us at hello@sigoct.com and tell us a little about it. You don't need to have the problem fully worked out before you get in touch. We'll suggest a sensible first step, whether that's a map of your systems, a written spec for new software or a Microsoft 365 security review.
